Artistic Biography
Born in 1982 in Chisinau, Republic of Moldova, I grew up in a small town, Hancesti. At the age of eleven, I began attending the local art school, an equivalent of what we might today call an after-school program. There, I discovered watercolor techniques and had my first lessons in art history.
At fifteen, I moved to Romania, first to Iași for high school and later to Bucharest, where I studied Economics at the Academy of Economic Studies. At the same time, I held onto the dream of developing my artistic skills alongside a career in Economics. During my second year at university, I applied for a place at the “Ion Mincu” University of Architecture and Urbanism, in the Fashion Design program, and was admitted. My intention was to continue pursuing art while studying Economics. However, I soon realized that it was impossible to attend both universities at the same time. At that point, I chose what I considered to be the more secure path and gave up my Fashion Design studies after one semester.
In 2013, at the age of 31, I moved with my family to Germany, settling in the Frankfurt region to pursue a career in banking. Alongside my professional life, I continued painting whatever fascinated me: a landscape, a person, a gesture, a fleeting expression. At a workshop, I discovered water-mixable oils, which I found to be a perfect medium for someone living in an apartment without a dedicated studio.
Painting portraits in my free time gradually became the most fulfilling activity in my life—something I wanted to do more and more. My children were often my greatest inspiration. I loved painting them in spontaneous, unposed moments—smiling, playing, laughing, or even slipping
Over time, I discovered the beauty of abstract art as well as the versatility of acrylic as a medium. My artistic goal became to create works in which portraiture and abstraction can exist alongside one another—pieces that complement each other and bring a distinctive atmosphere and character to a space.
In 2026, while considering a change of employer, I decided to take several months to dedicate myself to personal projects. One of these projects began with a book written by my ten-year-old son. What started as a school assignment struck me as something special and worth sharing with a wider audience. It gradually developed into a family project: my children posed for me while I created the illustrations for the story. A few months later, we published Das Buch der Reisenden on Amazon, a children's fantasy book that was subsequently also translated into Romanian. This project led to a commission for another children's book, which will be published soon.
After publishing the book, I created my own website in order to exhibiting my artwork.
For me, making art is a way of maintaining a healthy and balanced mind. I paint whenever I feel that life is moving too quickly, when there is a constant pressure to do more, achieve more and keep up with a world driven by new technologies and ever-changing ways of living.
Painting has become my time to be honest with myself. There are no predetermined answers and no certainty about what the final result will be. I experiment, try again, make mistakes and start over without fear of failure. The process itself becomes the destination—and the journey is what I enjoy most.
I think I need both finance and art in my life; it is simply the balance between the two that keeps changing, shifting in one direction or the other depending on the phase of life I am in.
